Technical description of the formicarium:

Formicarium size: 32 cm * 20 cm * 19.5 cm

Size of the nest part: 29cm * 14.5cm

Number of plaster ant nests: to choose under the product price.

When choosing 2 gypsum nests, ants get twice the nest space.

If 2 sockets are selected, these sockets are placed opposite to each other (on opposite sides of the formicarium)

Litter for irrigation of the formicarium is included (different color) - it should be poured into the gap between the plaster (gypsum) and the side wall.

The top cover has 2 ventilation holes plaggued with ventilation plags.

In the side walls of the formicariums there are fi 10 mm holes for connection with another formicarium or arena.

Functionality of the formicarium

The biggest advantage of this formicarium is the possibility of ordering it with a double nest, thanks to which the ant breeder obtains additional space for the ants and no need to buy another formicarium until the colony grows again. One unused nest can be temporarily closed (the hole can be plugged):

The minimum amount for the colonization of the formicarium: queen plus 200 ants.

Maximum number of ants that the formicarium can hold: queen plus 2500 ants.

To the formicarium can be connected with other modules by fi 10 hose and by AntCenter No 1 connector.

You can additionally buy an acrylic rant to ventilate the arena. For this reason it is possible to buy also a cover 32x20 with mesh.

The edges of the the formicarium are finished with a silicone gasket, which means that the top cover of the formicarium sticks tightly to the rest of the arena and it is not possible for ants to escape from the arena.

If the ant keeper want to provide the ants with blackout, it is possible to buy a red cover with magnets at our shop.

The nest of this formicarium is made of light plaster. Aesthetically cast chambers and corridors make the formicarium look extremely elegant. In the opinion of the designer, it combines features that have not been seen so far compared to other formicarias available on the market. It is about the lateral location of the nest, which enables unrestricted, panoramic observation of the habits of ants' life. The unique depth of the chambers means that even large species of ants, such as Camponotus ligniperda, move freely in the corridors and nest in cast chambers. The sheer size of the formicarium is an ideal answer to requests related to the possibility of displaying it in large home spaces as well as in more modest apartment spaces.

It can be successfully colonized by all available ant colonies. The design has been thought out so that the owner can easily keep the formicarium clean, it also provides a microclimate similar to the natural one. The materials used to make the formicarium are harmless to the ants and the environment. The gypsum nest perfectly maintains the necessary moisture for the development of the colony.

The nest has deep chambers, which enables the breeding of larger and medium-sized species, such as Camponotus ligniperda or Formica fusca.
